KADABA – A Green village.
In the green valley of western ghats there is a small village called KADABA, which is my birth place.
Kadaba is a village in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district of the Malnad region.It is a Hobli (sub division of Taluk).It can be reached from Uppinangadi by travelling towards Kukke Subramanya.It was a taluk during pre-independence British days.It is also the ancestral name of a tribal group.With passage of time, the Kadamba tribe has merged with the local population. Kadaba was also the capital of Kadamba Dynasty (345 C.E - 525 CE) which ruled the Tulu region or the South Canara.
Geographical location
The Geographical coordinates of Kadaba are: Latitude : 12° 44' 0" North and Longitude : 75° 28' 0" East. Altitude of the place is 308 ft The population of the village is 3190 (1562 males and 1628 females).
Temples
In the past, there were 14 temples around Kadaba. Now, most of them are in ruins and only Shri SriKantaSwamy temple, which is said to belong to the 8th or 9th century, and the MahaGanapathy temple adjacent to it are in good state where worship is offered even today. In the book titled "Shankara Vijaya",it is stated that Adi Jagadguru Shri Shankaracharya, on his visit to Kukke Subrahmanya temple, stayed at Kadaba and worshipped Lord Shri SriKantaSwamy and later travelled to Kollur.
Shri MahaGanapathi temple, located next to Shri SriKantaswamy temple, said to be 800 years old, is installed on Rasa Bhavi [Well) (the local belief was if metal was added to that Rasa it turned into gold)]. Shri Mahaganapathi idol in the temple is special with 4 arms, spear, spade, tusk, with a small pot (Kalasha) in its trunk, shri laxmijanardhana temple

I have also visited this place when on the way to Subramanya from dharmasthala. It is really a beautiful place full of lush & greenary. I would definitely like to stay there in leasure.
